SYSTEM NUMBER 1
To the north and continuing east of Selva di Cadore
is the System Number 1: Pelmo - Croda da Lago
. This system covers an area of 4344 hectares, all in the region of Belluno.
There are many peaks that make up this system, the most famous surely Mount Pelmo also called "Caregon del Padre Eterno" the throne of God that by his (3168m) dominates the entire valley. In addition to the Monte Pelmo and Pelmetto (2990m) from the west are the Cernera group (2612 m) composed of Verdal (2418 m) and Piz del Corvo (2383 m), behind them lie the Lastoi dei Formin (2657 m) Croda da Lago (2701 m) Rocchette (2469 m).
Exactly between these three peaks and Cernera Group is the plateau of Mondeval de Sora where we have found the important Mesolithic burial of Mondeval Man.
From Selva di Cadore you can admire the "Queen of the Dolomites' Marmolada
inserted on the System Number 2 and going up to Mount Fertazza it enjoys one of the most unique landscapes of the Dolomites the view of the legendary North West Wall of the Civetta Mountain
symbol of the System Number 3.
